IT project manager - Part time

I don't think I've ever worked on a project that only runs 2 or 3 days per week, so I imagine this might be a tough ask. In my experience, projects that don't require a full time project manager are too small to warrant the full project team/structure/methodology and the work will be managed through the change management procedures, possibly overseen by another PM that has the capacity to keep an eye on things.

I've got a few projects that could be run by a P/T PM but in reality we have the same situation as you describe - they are covered by other people.

A few projects I have worked on have P/T PMO members. Maybe this is an option?

I manage 2-3 major projects at a time, so obviously I'm part time on all of them, however each project demands a certain amount of time from me each day - it would be difficult to say to any of them that I'll only be available on specific days or between specific times as they want to speak to me at any time there is a potential problem with the project

If she really does have this flexibility to respond at any time, why go part time?

So if you was made aware of a decent PM but they were only available 2 or 3 days a week (flexible on working days and happy to be contactable on the other days) you would consider this approach? for one of your projects?

Being proactive is definitely key.

I wouldn't have a problem with a P/T PM as long as they are up to the job.

Could work but depends what type of PM a project needs - one that makes decisions or one that just 'manages' the project plan. If it's the former then I would like the PM to at least be available for calls on the off days.

I've found a few of these but only came across them by chance, it wasn't until I started reading the advert that I found out they were part time. This got me thinking that I'm not particularly money orientated so why not try and get a decent rate contract for 2 - 3 days a week. The annoying bit I found was that most of the sites I use only really differentiate between contract and permanent and not part-time. They are out there but never found an easy way of targeting them.
