E46 M3 Bluetooth/Telephone
Discussion
Me again,
Has anyone managed to successfully pair a Samsung Galaxy S3?
I can get the phone and the car to pair up, but I cannot get the M3 to import my contacts list.
The in car phone system works as long as I dial the number manually using the dashboard input, but this isn't a lot of use as there's only about 2 numbers I can remember off the top of my head (one of which is my mobile!)
any advice is appreciated

I have two e9x cars and a GS2 and have noticed some times difficulties transfering data - one tip I read which worked was two kill the Bluetooth Share process and let it restart (while connected) admittedly this is different hardware on both sides!
Alternativly as above try sending a contact to kick of the transfer - just remembered when I had an e46 and an older phone (think it was ericsson / sony) pairing the phone and then imediatly turning off the ignition and then on again seemed force full sync.....

My Gen 5 bluetooth module (08/2004 M3) does the same thing with a Galaxy S3
You can dial from the handset though. It just doesn't come through the speaker until it connects. So you don't get to hear it ringing before someone answers. My most commonly called names/numbers are programmed in the voice control though so when dialing it uses numbers store in the car and is the same as calling from the car's interface.
I think the phonebook worked once when I first paired but never worked after that. I logged the bluetooth connection and could see the phone did not support one of the AT commands. It also connects/disconnects multiple times when first starting the car I think because the AT commands fail.
I now have an iPhone and whilst the contacts transfer fine, it doesn't support caller ID (the S3 did) so when someone rings me I have to look at the phone. Sigh... The calling from the phone issue remains though.
I think if you're prepared to spend $USD400-500 and replace the module with a 13th gen bluetooth, most/all problems will be fixed. No guarantees though.

Much appreciated for all the help guys.
I tried sending a business card, didn't seem to work, but it's a bank holiday tomorrow and I have no plans so I'll spend tomorrow poking about and playing with it.
It's not a massive problem, I don't really make calls in the car anyway as long as I can answer calls, so I'm not really prepared to chuck money at it really, and I'm definitely not prepared to buy an iphone!
