Having a bit of a dilemma...

I used to own a cracking Chim 450 but sold it to get my Tuscan S but I miss my old Chim. Don't want to part with the Tuscan because its a keeper & awesome to drive.

Would love to buy back my 450 but thats not really an option HOWEVER there's a nice 500 for sale that went to see & drive yesterday.

Just need to know what's it like owning two TVRs? Does one get left in garage too much etc etc

Advice much appreciated!

I bought a Chimaera in late 2011 as a 'dooweruppa' to be my winter car and as I a contrast against my Tuscan summer car.
I'd regretted selling my previous Chimaera but at the same time totally love Tuscans, being on my second.

Anyway, last year I started on the Chimaera, clutch, steering linkage, brakes.....(list goes on) but there was still quite a list when the Tuscan started to have problems. Just wasnt running right, missing firing.

Seemed to spend a lot of time and effert on the Tuscan but she was still not right on the Spanish holiday.
All this time the Chimaera was set aside and was steadily adding extra little bits of its own to the list. Drivers window, new radio packed up......

It reached the point where I started looking at AM DB9's with the idea of selling both TVR's !!!!!
In October the Tuscan engine fault was finally identified as the coil pack and she was back to being absolutely amazing.
Decided;-
a. Now way could I sell the Tuscan
and
b. I couldnt cope with 2 TVR's and so changed the Chimaera for a big fat MB CLS.

Glad I tried as it made me realise my limits as far as TVR patience is concerned.

Thanks for your insight..Sounds like your Tuscan didn't like having another TVR sharing your time!

My Tuscan is sorted bar it will need an engine rebuild at some point and interior could be redone. These aren't needed yet and if/when they get done I'll have the Chim to tide me over - well that's if I do buy it!

I love my Tuscan and will never sell it unless under severe duress!

Just miss that good ole v8 rumble and got it under my skin whether to just go buy this chim I've been looking at. Doesn't help it's almost same colour etc as my old one.

Just trying to make sure heart isn't totally ruling head and thought I'd see what folks options are.

You could get a chim/griff as a daily and use the Tuscan for special events/weekend blasts. The RV8 seems to be a much easier engine to work on and offers great reliability.

Two TVRs (one as a daily and one as a special weekend toy) is the way to go...so I have been told...if my wife is reading...nothing to see here... whistle

I have a cerbera I like to tinker and winter tends to be the time for me to do that. How ever I tend to be back on the road for the 1st of April. This year I got carried and it's still in bits.

So I went and added a Tuscan this week to the fleet, now I can tinker and drive through the summer.

No disadvantages yet just running costs of 2 cars. I will chop and change what I drive when the cerb is finished but I have so many plans for it. smile

i had two Tvrs at the same time, A Cerbera 4.2 and the chim 500 i still have.
in the end i sold the cerbera as after a couple of hairy moments i decided i didnt want two cars i had to concentrate on all the time. i liked looking out of the window and seeing two tvrs, in the end i sold the cerbera and got an Xjr to go with the Chim, and i am pleased i did

2 TVR's pah lightweight...

I seem to have collected

Tuscan Challenge Car
Chimaera road car
tasmin racer
tasmin restoration
Sagaris racer build
s3 body !!!

erm although non of them actually function currently lol..

Actually the best plan is one road car and one race car. just make sure they are different models so you dont steel bits of the road car for the racer.. ( the reason the chims in bits is it shared motor with the tuscan racer)

so a Tuscan s6 road car and a chim racer sounds like a plan for you lol

Suggest you ask Mr Tank. At the last count I think he had 15, mostly Wedges!

Not quite in Andy's league, but I have 3 that I use pretty equally in terms of miles per year. On really nice sunny days, the Griff gets the nod for obvious reasons, but otherwise I just rotate usage. I look forward to driving all of them and they are all great fun, just different.

Never find it a problem finding the time to get the cars out and love having the choice of which car for what occasion!!

No problem, but the Chim gets upset if I don't buy it presents, and the Tuscan insists on having the top bunk.

As Christian says, never a problem choosing which car to usebiglaugh the Sag will always take top spot, but he Griff is ideal for days like today when a bit of open top motoring is the order of the day. Unfortunately, the T350 has gone, do miss that sound track thoughweeping

No real disadvantages other than the cost of keeping both on the road and the fact I only have a single garage so I have one garaged at my dads and one at mine and I swap them over when I want a change.
The two cars- a 2002 Cerbera Red Rose and a 1989 450SE couldn't be more different to drive but I like them equally- the power and sense of occassion when driving the Cerb and THAT noise from the Wedge- not to mention the rarity of car- one of only 35 built.

Cheers for all the feedback!

Sounds like having having two might just be the way forward...only if they don't get jealous of each other lol,,

Think I might be joining those who do own more than one TVR :-)

Jamie I'm not fannying about just making sure its not a daft thing to do.. Cheers for the drive of the Cerb this evening.

Buying one TVR is daft. Buying two is certifiable. That's what differentiates red-blooded humans from all the lemmings being sensible until illness or age takes them anyway.

Re: the Cerb - any time. But I think a go of the Tuscan and Chim are in order biggrin

Unlike most here I've only got 2 TVR's and over the course of a year the mileage done in both is almost identical. Dry sunny days the Chimaera goes out, less nice or wet days the Cerbera comes out, and I usually take the Cerbera to meets as well as a Chimaera is quite boring these days.
So no disadvantage at all really, costs are spread pretty evenly as is fuel, if you are using one you are using the other less so it's not like it's double the running costs.

Scotty, nice one on the Tuscan, you kept that quiet. Tuscan is next on the list for us too - got some plans! biggrin
