I currently own a 1989 Supersport one of the last build had it for about 5yrs , but i thinking about a change .

I am thinking about a 996 with a GT3 kit on it or a C4s as i think they really look good , the question is , do i go water cooled or not , my current car is faultless , looks great, but you know how it is , you get bored

Whats the general view

Yours is a classic. Rock solid residuals, maybe even some decent appreciation.

The 996 is still a bit unappreciated. A lot of fallen into the hands of those who can't really afford or appreciate them.

IMO you should keep what you have.

Buy a 996 if you want one, but don't sell the 3.2 to do so.

I've owned in the past , 996 TT, GT3 , C4s ( with x51 , switchable exaust and Parr fitted coilover suspension set up) and three 911's , a Clubsport, a 3 litre 930 and a 2.2 E.
All were memorable for vastly different reasons, of the moderns the C4 s was the one I would repeat probably because of the usable performence and handling/ road holding capabilities.
The 3 litre turbo is the one that holds the best memories and one I regret losing I honestly believe I would still have it but for the fact it was stolen.
They're all great cars but I think you'll regret disposing of the supersport to gain ownership of a 996.

I might consider a deal swapping/PXing my 996C4S for a supersport?
PM me if its still something that you want to do

As much as I like the look of the C4S I suspect you may regret selling the Supersport for one.

As the winter kept on going I had such dark thoughts, not helped by a test drive in the new Cayman. But the sun came out and a few hundred miles later; What was I thinking, stick with the proper car, you will only regret it.

Variety is the spice of life, I want to experience as many cars as I can, I've had my Spyder for 6 weeks and almost swapped it for a Ferrari 348 the other day!

If you're bored, change it, buy smartly, privately and it shouldn't cost you too much to change cars and choosing and buying em is definitely half the fun...

just my take

Very very different cars Mike, lots of decent 996s around but not so many 3.2s. Definately better not to sell the 3.2 if you can until you've made a decision whether you like the 996.

An alternative might be to swop cars for a week with someone who is wondering about going the other way. I think you'll know quite quickly if its for you.
