Please don't take this personally Steve, but I have seen your car at TowerView and I don't think removing the pop up headlamps has improved the looks of your wedge!

I'm sure that the reduced weight, drag etc are more important for you anyway - I don't think there is anything that would get in the quest for more speed :-)

What problems are you having with your pop ups - they aren't that difficult to sort in my experience.

Speaking as a non-wedgie I think Steve's replacement light pod is an improvement.

I don't think even the most dedicated wedge lover would argue with the looks of an S

It was done to save about 30 lb of weight which was located at the front of the car. This not only slowed the car down but was not good for the handling. It also allowed me to fit the oil cooler into it the space.

Right now I am working all hours to get the 520 re built. I had a look at my photo library and I don't have any piccies. The front of the car is in bits as is the rear transmission and suspension. The metal work is simple. Bent a bit of ally to make two side brackets to take a vertical back plate and a floor. These are selftapped to the GRP sides that would normally take the pod hinge bolts. Extend the back plate behind the vertical one. Mount light brackets on this extension and cut holes in the back panel so that the light units aan come through. Adjust beam heights as needed. Cut 2 mm perpspex for covers and self tap to body.
