Hello all,

So this issue has probably been raised before, but I am suffering from horrific low speed brake squeal on my 3 month old RS3. I live in London so am constantly stopping and starting and this means constant squealing from my car which has forced me to dangerously change my driving style in an effort to use the brakes in a minimalist fashion.

It would appear that Germany have a cure - and for the TT RS too, whilst my UK garage has told me they are aware of the issue and recall but no direction has been given to them by Audi UK.

I've now contacted Audi UK and my solicitor has already prepared the paperwork for the case for me to return the car under the good 'ol trades description act (not informed at time of sale, reasonably expect a new car not to permanently have painfully squeaking brakes, db levels of squealing exceeding Euro limits etc etc).

Has anyone else had this problem and any resolution? This is clearly something new buyers of this and the TT RS should be aware of too.

As the dr says it should be here soon mine hasn't done it much but came back with vengeance yesterday, new calipers with some kind resonance cans on them, and a new type of brembo pad

A friend has just had his RS3 sorted by Audi.

However it has come back from them with 180 miles extra on it and the front full of stone chips.....

Big thread on this over on audi-sport.net. One car has already gone in the for the fix and there are also some other low cost option fixes. Luckily I don't have the issue with mine yet, but only had it for 3 weeks but the car has 19k miles on it from previous owner.

You friend needs to question the excess milage with Audi immediately....

Thanks everyone - really helpful. A little disappointed that Audi continue to allow this to continue but then perhaps the rumours of their quality control taking a real nosedive are accurate and their new cars are statistically having many more issues?

My legal advice has now written to Audi so ill keep you posted on the results.

Cheers!

Bit late to this, but I believe its not only the RS3, the TTRS and TTS at least also have a brake squeal issue.

No idea if they all share the same caliper or if Audi are just inept at designing their brakes.

My TTS certainly suffers from it and yes its incredibly annoying in traffic etc, will be in touch with Audi if it is true they have a 'fix' for it now.

Without wanting to get SP&L on this...

But, is the car un-driveable?

Is the car dangerous?

Does the car stop when you press the pedal?

Audi have admitted a problem and a fix is on its way at no cost (i assume)?

Even with the TDA im not sure what legal rights you have?

Anyhoo, good luck and keep us updated!

Well, for the sake of adding something to the thread, I recently had my front brake discs and pads replaced on my 8P RS3 as they were completely worn. Looking at the part numbers there is now a second revision of the discs - part number now ends in a C when the first revision was suffixed with a B - so I assume there was something not right with the first attempt at fixing them.

Anyway, the new ones are drilled, although I don't know if the first revision parts were drilled too, or if it's just the most recent one.
