So after getting offloading my much loved Impreza...

I had a burning desire to find a 328i Sport.

So after a week of finding cars to view and disregarding ones that had been over chavved I happened to come across the one I've just bought.
The advert didn't give much away other than it had 144k miles with the engine replaced under warranty at 40k due to Nikasil issues, It has a full service history and some minor rust.
And luckily it had only been advertised for 3 hours and was within 15 miles of where I am.
The asking price was £1400.

So I went to view the car and to my surprise, it actually looked rather good. It's Cosmos Black on creamy/white/greying leather.
The minor rust really is minor, just a bit of bubbling on both arches but not rotten through, a bit more of the same on the bootlid and the roof just after the windscreen.
The seller pointed out its faults to me such as a cracked windscreen and some minor paint flake on the front bumper.
So after a 30 min test drive which revealed no major faults, I decided I'd like to take her home with me.
Had a chat with the seller who'd done most of the little jobs I was planning on doing anyway which sweetened the deal a little bit more.

I wanted it for about £1k so started negotiating on things that needed doing and agreed a price of £1100. Pretty pleased with that result.

So enough blabbering on from me as I know it's useless without pics. Here she is after a quick wash...

And an arty one...

I will be taking some more this weekend when she has a proper clean, polish and wax.

Edit to determine what colour the interior actually is.

It's not too bad, I'm a bit gutted that it's missing the standard BBS wheels as they look rather good.
The price is a bit annoying really, it's not so expensive that I want to pamper it but IMO its too good a car to use for bangernomics type ownership.
I think I'm going to have to decide carefully on what to do with it in the future as I'd love to tidy up all the bodywork and get it into 'mint' condition but I'm also reluctant to spend a fortune on what is basically a £1k car?!
So for now, I shall be enjoying it for what it is and I'll decide what to do in the future.

That looks well that.

Despite the obvious issues with the wheels, I like the colour.

Any interior pics?

The annoying thing is that it still has the spare BBS in the boot! frown
I'll go and grab a quick pic of the interior for you but it needs a bit more of a clean before I start taking more pictures.

Looks good and a great price. The BBS wheels off these can be picked up quite cheaply I think

Like the colour and wheels (and rest of car obviously).
Are those front tints legal? cop

The tints? What tints? angel
To be honest I don't know, it seems to have passed all its MoTs without question so I can't say yes or no.
I hope to god they're subtle enough that it doesn't keep getting me pulled over though.

You made me panic very briefly then.
Looking at the photos you'd think not but I must have got the angle absolutely perfect to look like they're not there.
Hopefully by Sunday there should be some better pics of the car so I shall upload a few.

It seems like really nice car, well done. I like the black ones and I think the wheels look nice on it, gives it a bit of an aggressive look if I might say so. Enjoy it mate.

I'm not sure what I think of the interior. There seem to be lots of colours going on: carpets, seats, leather, grey plastic, black plastic.

Looks nice OP, I love the style 32's as well but I'm obviously in the minority there, you can get BBS wheels cheapish if you buy tatty ones and they are easy enough to DIY refurb as well.

Thanks guys.

I do quite like the wheels but would have preferred the RC041/2s.

With regards to the rear tyres, as much as I dislike stretched tyres, I don't think they're too badly stretched and they are also pretty new so I'm reluctant to spend £200-250 on wider tyres and fitting when these are ok.

Hi mate, nice car, I do like an E36.

Are the wheels off something other than a 3 Series? It's just that the offsets look a bit extreme, hence the stretched tyres to avoid rubbing I guess.

Pretty syre Style 32s were available on E36 (I nearly bought some for mine but went for M Contours instead) but also E39 5 and E38 7 so maybe you've got one of the latter. There is a nice dish on the rears.

It looks like you got a cracking deal on that, Well Done! look after it and should give you lots of thrills for quite sometime, personally I would ditch the "M3" style mirrors and put proper amber indicators on it and it would look much better, the wheels do suit it and the color isn't out of place either.

The leather should come up white again with a proper clean, head over to the scary land of detailing world and somebody will be able to tell you how to get them back to white.

I think the Style 32s may well be from an E39, I will look into selling and/or swapping them for RC041/2s so long as it doesn't cost too much. They are growing on me, I bought the car on Wednesday so am just looking at what to do/buy without turning it into a mini money pit.

The M3 mirrors are crap, I agree with that 100% but again I'd rather not plough a chunk of money into a car that may or may not last too long. Although I am a fan of the clear indicators and think they make it look a bit younger than it really is. The laminexed full beams in yellow isn't my favourite modification, they shall be coming off fairly soon.

Having just arrived back from a 200 mile motorway commute, I'm pretty happy that she averaged 39.8mpg on the run! yikes Coming from an Impreza that's like diesel spec efficiency. smile

So far the thing I want to add to it most of all is noise. It's been golf tee'd but it doesn't really produce the noise I know it can!

Thanks for the comments from everyone on here. thumbup

How does it stack up to the Suberu, that's kind of a tough act to follow, also I put an M3 EVO exhaust on mine, really brought the noise out without being boomy and it was cheap off eBay.
