I have an intermittent fault (it's happened 3 -4 times over 18 months, including today), where once I stop the car and remove the keys from the ignition, the power steering pump keeps running.

You can hear it whining, and you can still easily turn the steering wheel, whereupon it changes pitch. This obviously has the side effect that the battery gets drained, so I am loathe to go somewhere where I have to leave it several hours in case it happens and I have a flat battery.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or can point me in the direction of a possible solution?

Replace the (sticking) relay, its in that grey shroud by the oil tank. About £20 from Peugeot. Renault do an upgraded version that is about the same price.
