Mine was first registered January '98 and does not have the sloping rear plate, or the little individual round light thingys at the rear. It does however have the front splitter, larger rear boot tail, and door openers under the mirrors. If memory serves the cars were a bit mix and match around at that time.... Cheers Mart

Don't mean to steal thread, so what is the facelift 3?
Mines a 2000 w reg, so a facelift 2 I think?
Round rear lights
Sloping no plate
Longer boot lid
No hinges
Door openers under ????
Splitter in grill
Clocks etc different.
Anything else I'd love to know??
Don't know if that helps you mate, goodluck with inspection.

Hiya Graham, rolling road which one? Nah I'll be gutted, lol.
Mart put the weather and the shine of that car out your mind and imagine someone is going to assault you in an unimaginable way!!! Right back to terra Ferma with a bang on the head, remember these cars are a form of supercar but blokes think they can burn up in them then offload em, the best looking can be dogs, I'm sure you know your stuff or have an expert on hand so ensure it's totally pulled and shaked underneath, leaks bad, check how bad, chassis, depending on price and age but you want a good one. It's not hard to see a car that's cared for it's clean in the depths and recesses, tatty, careful.
Other than that there the business, lol. Serious theres loads of good owners with cars for sale, find a good owner.
After all that I walked up to mine, fell in love and started throwing money out everywhere! Please don't be fooled as I was, do your due diligence then you'll have a summer you'll never forget. Great cars Tvr.

Mine was delivered in February '98, as a '97, and yet has the full Mk2 spec. (which was critical to my decision to buy it in '99).Chilli

So (unusually), Chili is correct
; there appears to have been some mixing and matching going on.I suspect, as the vast majority of cars were customer ordered / specified, that customer preference would have something to do with it in at least a few cases. TVR was very flexible regarding the specific build. I saw some absolutely horrific interior design choices in newly delivered cars about then, and some dealers would do additional work prior to delivery as well.
Don't discount the fact that many, many cars also travelled arse first into the 'weeds' in the first weeks of new ownership, and repair sections could be almost as hard to come by then as they are now.

Nah, it'll have been down to TVRs eclectic approach to QA where new bits got put on top of old ones... they they got to the bottom of the parts bin and had to use old bits. Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
