Project V8 Defender is Go!
Discussion
Guys,
Not sure if I posted about this before.
After selling my previous defender V8, here is a video of my old one:-

I made an impulse buy on eBay, and ended up with another defender v8 of the same vintage.
I want to build something with very good off road ability, so I can have some fun in the mud etc with my son Tom.
The suspension was tired, some decided to go all out and replace it with this:

I am collecting this today and will start fitting it over the weekend!
Lookout for some photos of the progress.

You shouldn't have replied to that comment...Pardon my ignorance, but why are there no springs in that suspension kit? Seems like the most obvious thing to change in a suspension system!

Hi Nick,Pardon my ignorance, but why are there no springs in that suspension kit? Seems like the most obvious thing to change in a suspension system!
There are lots of banal and frankly stupid comments of my you tube videos, I just ignore them!
Yes you are correct that' set does not include springs, you need to select the springs you need based on the amount of lift and loading, so yes I did have new springs as well.
Already added another post, but if you are watching this one here is what I did yesterday!

Quick update from yesterday's work.
With the suspension all finished we set about removing the old exhaust manifolds,,as well as the silly pulsair system in the heads.
I got the blanking plugs from famous four, and installed these when the pipes were removed before fitting the tubular manifolds.
Fitting the manifolds was relatively straightforward but we had too do some serious relief on the near side manifold to clear the chassis rails.
Then went on to fitting the stainless steel exhaust system, which was not too bad, again some small kinking to allow the y pipe to clear, and a small cut out needed in the chassis rail fillet to give clearance.
Started up, and it counts nice, not too loud and no blows or leaks.
I will get some pictures and video posted up later today.
