Sorry if this is a repeated topic.

But what's the issues for MOT in taking the cats off?

I'm running rear sports exhaust cans: What increase in noise levels will there be?

Cheers

Increase in noise will be LOTS! My T350 has a JP rear box and also ACT De-cats, it was loud with just the JP but the fireworks with no cats is unbelievable smile Mine was noise tested at the Neil Garner open day at 128.9db - which is erm, loud!

As for MOT, to pass emissions you will need to put them in - or potentially find a friendly MOT tester.

Decatting car will mean more pops and bangs and it will generally be louder as there is less to absorb the noise as the gasses come through.

MOT wise. Since March 2012 changes mean that a car that had a cat on original equipment will fail without. Having said that how many testers will know if a TVR had one in the first place. Mine passed without cats but it depends on tester I think.

There is one way around it.... Syvecs has a setting on it that leans the engine enough to pass an MOT for emissions. (Apparently, officer). Mine may have passed 2 MOTs with the system in place...

I have ACT decats with racing green rear cans. Playing with my sound meter I am over 124db at 4k revs. Oh the bangs and pops! cloud9

Thats an expensive way around it :P Like Tony, i'm JP and Decatted and it's like a machine gun on overun :P Find a friendly centre :P Just ask if they do sports cars, your car is loud if you know what they mean :P Best to pop in rather than over the phone. For some reason, i keep losing that 20 quid off my dashboard each time my car is MOT'd :P

Compare this idle sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY_U7L-pA70 with other JP Videos. I think it's a major difference with/without.
And above 4000rpm hell is breaking loose.... :-)

Thanks guys I think I'll stay with the CATs I don't want it any louder than it is with the sports cans as they did my head in when we were on tour around Italy the other year all though they were great in the mountain passes ...tunneltastic!

Thanks again
