Our first V8 - Sabine, the 2000 Audi A6 4.2Q.....

Named so by my girlfriend, who uses the car as he daily driver 
We picked up Sabine for just £1000 because she had a fault with the tiptronic 'box which resulted in the transmission going into limp mode after around 2 minutes of driving.
We took a gamble, to be honest, and for once it paid off. After test driving the car, my other half fell in love. Here was a nice car, with a nice leather interior, full BOSE sound system and a stonking great 300bhp V8 up front, but with a really supple, comfortable ride, which is exactly what she was looking for.
The gearchange was smooth, even in limp mode, which convinced me that the problem was electrical, rather than mechanical. A quick fault code read after purchase, revealed a faulty control module.
A couple of weeks passed, with me monitoring ebay for the correct part, and eventually we found one. It was being sold by a breaker - in Latvia! But it cost us £100 (instead of £800 brand new) and has given us a £2500 car for just £1000. It is SO MUCH car for the money, it really is.

Plans include new headlights as these are all cloudy as if she has cataracts! I will probably replace the shocks all round as well due to her age and she is going in for a 120k mile service at the end of the month, as well as a general check over.
So far, so good. The engine is fantastic and sounds amazing. A nice aftermarket exhaust would make it even better....
Oh, I should add that I want a replacement bumper for the rear too. The parking sensors are.... intermittent... and there's now a scuff on there inflicted by an unseen bollard

Could you not restore/polish the headlights with PlastX or similar. Did it to my Jag and they came up almost as new - saved a wad of cash!

II could do some proper shedding and use some bath sealant or something I guess?

Yeah that's the one! We're already booked in for a service on 1st June with IVC at Stourton. They used to look after my old Leon Cupra back in the day.Fuel bills would be bad if the car was used more, but the Mrs only does 4 miles a day
