Was wondering when TVR introduced sun detection wiper activation?

For some obscure reason my wiper decided to start today in this lovely sunny weather without human intervention. Started on intermittent, then single speed, then double speed then off, all for random times and repeated at random! Thought it was activated on corners, then bad road surfaces, then acceleration, but to be honest it seems random. Suspect it may be the wiper control unit, but any other bright ideas before I spend £70?

Yes that was my first thought, but all the buttons on the steering wheel still work fine even when the wipers are being stupid.

Not sure where the earth point is for the buttons is though, might be worth checking?

Check cable and the buttons. I was flashing random people when going round corners when I had a problem.

Sorted. It was a squashed wire from the wiper button trapped between the steering wheel and boss. Bare wire was just exposed enough to touch the boss occasionally. Wouldn't be surprised if it was assembled like that from new.

This started happening to mine half way through the Bespoke day at North Weald, wasn't quite sure at the time if it was driving style knocking the button. Seems now to be activated by turning left, and always when the weather is really warm and the wipers scrape painfully across a high friction windscreen. I've not driven her much since then so might go and have a poke around now - is the cable easy to find/access?

cheers
