I've gone right off Pirellis after 3 structural failures of the carcasses on my Jags - all less than 15k miles and 18 months old. Never again. Grip wasn't that great either and the breakout fairly sudden with little warning.

I'm on Michelins or Goodyears for all my cars now. Got Toyos T1somethings on the fronts of my Cerb at the moment on borrowed wheels and hate them. The steering is all squidgy feeling and it tramlines like a pig.

Looking forward to getting my own wheels back and fresh Goodyear F1s all round. I'm considering R1R or R888 for a second set of wheels though.

Eagle f1s on the cerb, they don't last very long if I'm honest..
Have used Vredestein on my XJR for years.. great tyre and used to be reasonably priced.. but cant get them in cerb sizes unfortunately

My car was on Toyo T1-R's all round but the rears needed replacing, and with the Toyo's no longer available I put Kumho Ecsta Sport KU39's on following a recomendation from the tyre fitter.

I have to run my car on a sensible budget so the likes of F1's were out of the question. But the Kumho's have really impressed me so far. I found the Toyo's to be fairly predictable when they let the rear end break away (in a good way), but the Kumho's feel so much more secure. I'm not an expert but I put it down to the tread pattern. When it comes to replacing the Toyo's on the front I know what I'll be going for.

Old tyres loose grip as the rubber hardens.. Should buy the newest manufactured tyres possible. Will be going F1's on mine I think when the time comes.

Had t1r's front and back, replaced the rears with 888's, which were absolutely superb in the dry, not so good in the wet. Just put fresh Federal RSR's in the back, not impressed at all, in fact I'd go so far as to say they are bloody awefull. They have covered 200 miles and will be replaced with Toyo's next week...

Yes very aware of all that but they are still shown on Toyos web site? So who says they don't make them any more?

I had heard a few times there were no longer being made. To be replaced by the Sport. Could be confusion though.

Hi

I recently put some Michelin pilot sport tyres on my little 16 inch Saturn wheels, huge improvement over the old Goodyear F1s I had (and more recently pirelli P7s on the rear following a puncture). It is a bit of a challenge finding decent performance tyres for the 16s so till I found I could get the Michelins I was choosing between some Chinese make I hadn't heard of or Yokohama AD08s, neither of which really fitted the bill given I use my car in all weather. Couldn't say how much is due to just new rubber versus a better tyre but I have a lot more confidence now - but then I should as they weren't cheap

There's some stock left out there - I found some for sale online that were in Germany - but they aren't in production anymore.

Don't want to seem as though I'm after an argument but who says the T1r isn't in production? It's still on Toyo web site even my local ATS Eurodisater can get them way too expensive I might add but a couple of the big Internet suppliers still list them in stock?

But moving the thread along as my rears are T1r's with a few good miles left but I'm looking for a decent pair of fronts when my 4.7 comes back from Andy(APM) has anyone tried the T1Sport??

Just looking for a good match up but need some wet weather performance as she gets out all year round.

Care to elaborate
Run a full set of RSR's and have used. them both on the road and on track and found them to be a lot better than T1R's. Found them as good as the toyos in the wet and much better in the dry though after a comparing back to back again the RSR's are noisy on the road.
Mine are now two years old and I wonder if theres been a change in the compound

The compound seems harder than t1r's, they grip well enough from cold, but once you get lots of heat into them the grip levels don't appear to change much, which surprised me for a tyre that is supposed to be track-biased. The Toyo's certainly have vast increases in grip with heat. They have also upset the balance of the car, it feels really twitchy at the back. Various pressure changes have been tried, they just don't feel right at all. I know they are a good price, they just aren't the tyres for me.
