I don't generally bother about moderation issues - but the Matelot thread issue is ludicrous.

Bit off really, even though a vague reason was eventually given.

I remember though, one of pistonheads articles for a Chris Harris 'drive' video a month or two ago had him swearing in it. This wasn't posted in some small sub forum but on the home page of the website, of which pistonheads receives most of its hits, yet there were no warnings at all, no NSFW tags or anything.

I'm not to phased about moderation so long as its sensible and I realise that mods don't have time to read every single thing on PH but this situation is a bit desperate.

Won't be long until this thread is closed too, but it's not a good look for one of the biggest car forums/websites in the world...

In my opinion, BigAl has misunderstood the rule to apply to the content of the destination site, rather than the link itself, in the same way as people quote 'elf and safety to justify the unjustifiable.

The question is whether he is big enough (see what I did there?!) to admit his mistake...?

So just to clarify we are no longer allowed to link to anything that includes content that includes uncensored swear words?

Seemingly so. Unfortunately that means the 'shop' is now out of bounds.

Edited because the shop is naughty. rolleyes

So we can't post links to websites which may contain swearing, so that's the Guardian, Youtube and eBay out then?

I have emailed Garlick as well, this is a silly little bit of moderation and left unchecked will evolve into a big problem.

Hi chaps, not checked mails yet but I will have a look at the 'rule' to allow more flexibility next week. As someone mentioned, our own shop is full of swear words once away from the PH part.

What's done is done but we'll amend things where needed when back in the office. I suspect an application of an '18' logo is enough for most posts.
