Later style dash upgrade
Discussion
Going to have a go at colouring the seats and dashtop shortly, may as well sort out the dash at the same time which has the usual cracking.
Has anyone ever fitted the later style dash and switchgear to an early chim? I like the early black surround dials but less keen on the light switches and led's. In theory I don't imagine it's too difficult.....

Might not look it but it'll be a pain in the arse...
The later style light switch is a custom TVR part ( http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... ) and is incredibly expensive - I'm sure I've seen them at £100 or thereabouts and it also requires an additional switch box behind the dash as far as I'm aware (which I'd guess is difficult to source).
I wasn't happy with all the tell-tales for the indicators, lights and handbrake being down on the radio panel so I sourced some much nicer warning lights...

...and moved them up onto the dash by drilling some more holes around the main dials.

The thing is that the gauges are the original ones and I'd like to modernise them, adding some additional ones too - so now I'm looking at getting a new main dash cut in carbon fibre with holes for the warning lights above and for these gauges...

As the fan generally doesn't seem to do anything at all on the lower two speed settings then I was going to remove the fan speed knob and simply replace it with a simple "On/Off" switch...

The lower panel I'm looking to remove the last remaining "tell-tale" strip from and replace the hazard, rear fog, dipped beam and sidelight switches with these...

I may even eventually replace the stereo with a custom made "information" display but hopefully the new gauges will mean that's no longer needed...
Cheers

Thanks Phil.
Liking what you've done so far. If anyone makes a new lower panel minus the cut outs for indicator and light tell tales I would go for something similar, or even recover with new veneer or carbon weave material.
I've been talking with a guy that has been doing carbon fibre dashs and who says that he can make me one to whatever layout / design I want...Liking what you've done so far.
