Chromatic aberration question Canon 6D

I'm thinking of getting a Canon 6D and a 40mm STM lens as a travel camera. I also have a 17-40 zoom that has quite a lot of chromatic aberration that can be corrected afterwards with DPP. To avoid this I am hoping that with the correct lens profile that the 6D camera will do it for me. What is not clear (I've searched on Google and couldn't come up with a definitive answer) is whether the CA correction is applied only to the .jpeg or to the RAW file as well. I only shoot RAW so if it only corrects only the .jpeg the 6d is not going to be of much more use to me than my current 5D2. I don't want to have to correct in DPP if I don't have to.

Does anyone know the answer to this please?

I'd have thought it will be only the jpeg, as a RAW is the unadulterated information. You could get Lightroom or similar to apply this correction automatically when you process the file.

Jpg only but can be processed with dpp in the same way

I'll definitely get the 40mm STM lens for now and use it with my main 5D2. I'll order one today. I'm hoping that this lens will do most of what I want from a travel lens. When I've gone abroad with just a 50mm I've always found it a bit too long.

Might sell my other low shutter count 5D2 back up body to fund a 6D. I like the idea of the lighter weight and more compact size.

I would get a 35mm if i were you.... i wouldnt expect the IQ of that pancake lens to me much good

then you would be wrong, its IQ is damned good, the only real letdown for a prime is distortion.

I've ordered the lens. I'm hoping it lives up to expectations. According to the reviews I've read it has good sharpness, low distortion and low CA. It vignettes at f2.8 and f4 but that is virtually gone at f5.6 and f8, which is what I usually shoot at. Really looking forward to giving this lens a try.
