What's the official position on these classifieds?

Because they really annoy me (for no good reason):

It's always the same people, there's a perfectly good 'Sold' feature to the classifieds, but I guess it means the advert disappears quicker than leaving it up 'for sale'.

The same dealer as the tamora has still got my car advert up as "sold sold sold sold" months after I collected it. Rather disconcerting as I browse the classifieds but I understand why they do it.
