Posted a request recently about my boot opening on its own ....somehow the lock is releasing and i will only notice over 110 when the boot lifts open

Loosened bolts on button and it is not solved it.....it is now hard to get the boot open not just a quick tap which it was before....dont think it is the button ,,what else is left....is it just the lock that is left and would i change this myself?

Mine did this! It was like having an electronic spoiler raise itself when going at good speeds. It utned out the whole latch mechanism had come lose form the body and was simpyl not engaging properly. Topcats sorted it all out for me, and it has'nt done it since.

Does the mechanism feel loose at all?

Easy replacement of the latch. New one is cheap (I think I bought one for £5 from TMS, memory might have made it less now but it was cheap), just have to undo 2 screws and wiggle the old one out, wiggle the new one in and connect the latch rod from the badge.

Job done. If the old latch comes out easily and the new one goes in smoothly it's a <5 minute job.

Mine had the added complication of the fibreglass where the bolts attach had perished.

I shouldnt think the barn door spoiler would allow too much lifting of the boot either
