Does anyone know what bits have to come off to gain access to the starter leads on a vanquish, they are possibly loose, or worse still it's the starter and if so what's got to come off to aid removal of the starter.
TIA

Pat you do seem to be working your way through the standard Vanquish problems. From information on the AMOC Vanquish forum working on the starter is a bit of a B****d.

Thanks, got that. When I bought the car it showed it had new front subframe, new gear sensors, new coil packs, all the well documented issues, plus new disc/pads.

Now, before it halts progress completely I would like to address the "clicking" issue and I will be a happy bunny. What has to come off to get at the starter would give me a clue.

Had a great day out with the French Astoners at the New Forest and leading them over to Goodwood for lunch on Friday. All 7 cars made good progress along the 27's, must have been a great sight.

Hi Patrick, was very nice meeting ou and lise, hope you can get acess to the starter motor without the double jointed wrist that comes as a standard fittment to AM mechanics.

Pat I've just read Abe's write up with pictures on the AMOC site. I don’t envy you doing that job. As Ulrich say's AM recommend it’s an engine out job. Do report back how you get on and any tips you have.

Found the problem, all but a few strands of the starter + cable had sheared at the SM end. I suspect when cold, current flowed and engine turned, when hot resistance increased and no start.

Removed the cable, bit of a faff but doable, made a new cable and refitted. I will put a fuller description on AMOC site with pics, just glad I didn't have to remove starter.
