I drive off keeping revs to minimum till it hits 60 - thought I read somewhere it wasn't healthy to leave it idling till heated up but maybe they were mistaken

Hi, best thing to do is follow the guide on the my tuscan website. I always start up, allow the engine to idle for a minute, then drive off keeping the revs low and as per guide

Always worth a post for peace of mind smile

Start the engine with minimum use of throttle.
Drive off as soon as possible.
Keep under 2,500 RPM until oil temp is at least 40°C.
Keep under 4,000 RPM until oil temp is at least 50°C.
Keep under 6,500 RPM until oil temp is at least 65°C.

I'm with ShiDevil on this. So that's 2 out of 3 so far....
Having said that, don't go bananas as soon as the oil flips from 39C to 40C. Take it gradually through those ranges.
And in the colder months be prepared for a looooooooong wait before you can give it laldy.

Agreed it can take a long while to warm up in the colder months, specially if you are cruising on the motorway. Based on my experience, it would be much quicker to warm the car up by taking a route with lots of stop and start with round abouts or give ways, so you can also warm up the brake as well as the engine.
