The weather is great and the wife and kids all jumped in the 996 turbo (yours truly as the dedicated driver) to go the classic car show at Warren Golf course. Loads of Porsches and other super cars and classics out.

911 owners all gave a wave apart from a smug little to55er in a 997 C2, as did some if the classic car owners....all enthusiasts driving their toys. But Boxster drivers, not a thing! I shall not be put off, I will get them to be sociable.

Best of all, there has been no repeat of the oil warning light either.

One last thing, what jack do other 996 turbo or C4S owners use. I cannot get my 2 tonne draper trolley jack under the low skirting?

Good to hear yoou got a few waves...

My 2 ton Machine Mart trolley jack works fine on a 996T and C4S. I also use a hockey puck on top of the jack pad. This may help

My trolly jack won't fit under my Cayman either so I got a s/h scissor jack from a breakers for £5.

I use a low entry race jack.

As for the waving - please don't reignite this silly debate. Just because someone chooses not to wave at you doesn't mean he is a "smug tosser". Just as waving at people in the same make of car as you doesn't make you a sad tosser either. Although there are, of course, multiple exceptions to both generalisations.

Just drive the car onto two planks of wood of about 1.5 inches thick (one under each wheel),
Then use the jack as normal thumbup

I went to the hassle of chamfering the plank ends to make driving up them even easier
but it's not really necessary!

And when the planks are not in use you could put the planks out of both windows, with some giant foam hands attached. Then you'd be waving to everyone all the time.

I waved at a 911driver and a Boxster driver yesterday - they both waved back. (The Boxster driver looked a bit bemused though...)

In the interests of balance, I should point out that on my way to the Warren in my 912 a 997 waved at me; while exercising a Ferrari today a Caterham waved at me; and while driving my Caterham today a Ferrari waved at me. The whole waving thing is baffling hehe

Waved at a guy today and realised afterwards that I wasn't in the Porsche... He did look a little bemused.

For fcks sake........

The answer's vodka;

a) you don't want to wave at any human being = vodka, you wave at any fcker.
b) you drive a 911 - you wouldn't want to wave at a Boxster, but you do (which is very gay btw), like an RS200 waving to a fckin Fiesta = gay & vodka. the Fiesta driver will wave at any fcker, but Boxster drivers appear not to..unless they drink vodka and/or gay.....
c) you drive a Boxster and gay/vodka fuelled pepes in 911's are waving at you, and you have a failing hair salon and things are just getting too much, plus sticky fingers from mouse = gay, vodka & mouse, therefore no wave back.

Simples...but be careful, excess vodka may result in you attempt waving things at other drivers you may not have invisaged, however you could be gay and try it anyway...be warned guys.

Ergo it's vodka, however it could also be Ninjas....not the normal one's of course... er my post is about a useful as the OP's...sorry.

Being in the poverty pork club, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to wave at people with real Porsches? My friend was asking me if I waved at other owners at the weekend, he was telling me how his friend always waves at Elise drivers when he's in his VX220 but he never gets a wave back laugh
