I am installing an external inline fuel pump, do I mount it with the outlet above or below the inlet, or horizontal? The current pump is horizontal and I am sure thats not quite right? The fuel filter (post pump) is mounted higher than the pump outlet.

Its a high pressure fuel pump delivering circa 350 litres per hour at 5 bar (if thats relevant)

In general orientation does not matter as long as the pump inlet is gravity fed and below the level of fuel in the tank.

Great thanks. Its gravity fed from an aux fuel tank that is topped up by a lifter pump

Just make sure your lift pump is capable of supplying enough fuel to the remote tank.

Thanks, should be fine, the high flow rate is only to help prevent lean running at high revs
