out in the S today and got caught in the rain big time
switched wipers on and the things wouldn't go off no variation in speed no intermittant wipe just stuck at one speed what is likely to be the problem ,is it the realy or the regulator ,hat to disconnect in the end as the some came out .

Maybe the self-parking switch has failed?
See this thread, not quite the same as your problem, but it may help:

Disconnect the permanent positive wire going to the wiper motor and see if it stops. If it does then the problem has to be in the motor/self park slip ring. If it doesn't stop then the wire that comes from the switch has somehow got voltge on it that shouldn't be there when the switch is off so there is a problem on the switch or wiring from it. The self park mechanism is basically a slip ring which has a break in it. When the switch is activated it turns the motor and a slip ring/carbon bush which effectively shorts out the switch until it reaches the break which is the park position. I haven't got the diagram in front of me to be able to tell you which clour is which.
