TVR TUSCAN LCD DASH (help)

Did a trip from Surrey to Portsmouth yesterday and returned today. About 200 miles or so.

I noticed that my LCD dash faded when the car was getting hot. I then returned to the car today and it was fine, however, towards the end of the trip coming home the dash went off completely and one thing I noticed was the car felt very hot indeed.

I cheched the oil and Water. Oil was max but the water was empty. Do yu think the water being empty could have made the engine extremely hot thus causing disruption the LCD on the dash.

Hopoe someone can fill me in to there experiences of this nature.

Not heard of that problem before but mine shows lines unless the weather is hot, I have got a replacement screen to fit so hope that cures mine. I'm sure someone must be able to help.

I fitted a new screen recently (from Racing Green) and have had a similar problem, as the car gets warm the screen fades. I spoke to them and they advised it's a standard issue with the replacvement LCD's, I now have my contrast set about No2 it's not great on start up but is fine once the car is warmed up.

Is it a Mk1 or Mk2? I had this on my MK2- fading, blanking all sorts. Turned out to be poor circuit board connections, Str8six soldered every one in the end and it worked perfectly. IIRC the other thing they found was the different boards would warp, maybe due to the heat? Can't remember now. I think it challenged Jason's team a bit but they got there.

If you have overheated the engine with low coolant then I fear that the dash display is going to be the least of your worries.

It's a Mk1 2003; RG did advise there was a mod that could be done if I sent the head unit away however it was not guaranteed to resolve the issue...

It's A 2001 Mark 1 - I fired her up again and it all lit up OK. I think it could have been over heated with the lack of drink! It was quite warm in Portsmouth. You would of thought a aTuscan likes the Sun ay?

Mine (Mk 1 '02) faded to almost nothing yesterday. I put it down to the heat (weather). Back to normal again now.

had the same problem with my tamora dash, was found to be the positive supply connection on the pod, when it got hot the dash would fade and go completely. In the end it stopped working all together, sent it off "direct" to Paul Smith (PS electronics) who fixed it and made it more robust. You will find the big boys send it to him and add a hefty mark up.

I used Paul Smith with my ECU heater and he was great.

I have still go the warranty so will go back and get a new one.

Dani had same prob in my Sag and T350 only when really hot allways returned normal once cooled down

Thanks Braders. Need to change the Contrast as I have yet to do that.
