What Gas BBQ ? (£500 quid)

Hi bbq fans..it seems theres plenty of us on here and neither of the other threads felt the appropriate place to ask this question: where is the best place to spend 500 of our queen mums finest if one wanted a minimum 3 burner bbq? (no side burner necessary).

My sterling/broil king is coming up to 6 years old and the grates have starting cracking. Its given sterling service indeed but I feel that shes on her last legs and it has been used every single week regardless of weather. I recall it costing £400 6 years ago so not bad value for money overall.

I am guessing the obvious choice would be a Weber, or failing that another Sterling. I am not a fan of Outbacks.

Oh and keep the whole "he's a fag, cook on charcoal etc etc.." comments to yourself !! I have a weber 57 that get used a few times a year but the Sterling gets used 3 or 4 times a week and is unmatched for its convenience

I have a fully stainless weber spirit something or other? Bloody good, the only slight Nigel is that the burners are back, front and middle and I'm sure if they were right middle and left it would be better (for me anyway). Can't remember how much it was but less than £500 I'm sure.

You'll get a lot of Weber fans on here but I'm not one of them - I bought a Weber Q 320 and just couldn't get the damn thing hot enough without opening and closing the lid really quickly, I was always paranoid about turning food over because it would lose its heat so fast with the lid up and a lot of food ended up boiled instead of grilled.

I sold it within a month and bought a cheapo multi burner jobbie with a high BTU output and I can leave the lid open as much as I want - which pleases my neighbours no end........

Don't have that issue with mine' but you are supposed to close the lid.

Yep, I read that bit in the manual, still had heat issues - it would eventually get hot enough but it was always a struggle and not the relaxing outdoor cooking experience I was looking for.

I like my grill opened up with all my steaks, sausages, chicken, whatever, lined up so I can watch that 'man cooked' lovely sizzling bbq smokiness wafting into the air - it's 90% of the experience for me and my Weber just couldn't do it

To be fair, that's the largest portable bbq, useful for the beach, not really an everyday bbq

I've had a Weber Genesis for the past 7yrs, works very well. Stainless, enamel & cast iron grates, runs on propane so you can bbq 365 days a year if required, flavour bars & wood smoker box help, although I back this up with a Smokey Joe & the Classic 22" Kettle, if you want smoke & heat get charcoal.

Thanks. A weber spirit at £639 feels a bit on the lumpy side. What does a spirit have that a classic doesn't? This looks to tick a lot of boxes. http://www.wowbbq.co.uk/products/weber-spirit-clas...
That said I am used to a left and right burner on my Sterling and front middle and back burners sound like a right PITA. I might be talking myself into another sterling here....

We got one last week, primarily due to the 10 year warranty on the burners (not every part has a 25 year warranty, some are 2 or 3 years only).

However, they fitted the wrong ignition pack though so waiting for them to send the correct one out.

It does cook well though & we use it 3-5 times a week in the summer (weather permitting).


Check out the WowBBQ T's & C's on the delivery though.

I queried them & was assured that DPD were the carrier & there would be no issue in liability as long as I didn't instruct the delivery to be left if no one available to sign for the delivery.

After I ordered, I then got an email stating that TNT were the carrier & I must thoroughly check the contents for damage before signing as I couldn't sign "un-checked" & any damage found would be down to me.
