I've been searching high and low for an excellent driving experience where the instructors let you use the car to its full potential. Iv been on a few track days but non where I could have the best experience. Many we're small circuits and unable to get up to high speeds.

I'm looking for a rally track day where I spend much of the time in a car rather than a classroom and the chance to use the car to the limit.

Has anyone had any experiences of a fantastic track day that they could recommend?
Iv been looking on track days website and found this that looked quite good
http://www.trackdays.co.uk/driving_experience/seig...
But then looked on trip advisor and saw some bad reviews about the track being too small etc.
I'm an experienced driver and want to be able to get a buzz for the day in a track car.

The track at Stafford is very limited

What about booking a trackday and hiring an organisers car with instructor - not the cheapest option but would give you what you're after
(or if you know someone else interested - split the costs)

Are you talking about track stuff, or rally? Rather different. And what do you consider to be your aim - flat out straight line speed, or 'on the limit'? (note that there's nothing on the limit about driving really fast in a straight line, but if that floats your boat, go for it..)

In terms of track experience, probably the most fun you can have for sensible money is something like a caterham on a decent track. Not used them, but bookatrack seem to get good votes - R300's are a pretty potent piece of kit. Not really going to top the tables in straight line speed tho, more about acceleration and cornering.

If you want to go fast in a straight line, some sort of airfield day I'd have thought.

Alternatively, if you want the best 'experience' on track using their cars, IMHO there is only one - palmersport at Bedford.

Best rally experience hands down in the UK in Phil Price's near Knighton, Mid-Wales, not the cheapest (around £300 for the day last time we were there) but whole day, loads of in car time, variety of cars and a sit in the silly seat next to Phil around his stages. Google it and see what you think.

I've been competeing in rallying for years, we have taken our own cars there for testing, we've had birthday competitive days etc and it has always been well run, great fun and proper gravel rallying to boot! biggrin

where are you locagted and how much are you prepared to spend?

If you are in the south I'd recommend these guys:

http://www.subarurallyexperience.co.uk/#!

They run courses near London/Surrey/M25 and in the SW at Castle Combe circuit in Wilts.

Really good value.
Half day course £160.
But with plenty of time in the car and they will let you have a good go (Impreza's).

clip from last time I went, recommend it:
