Wedgefest sounds like a yank collage weekend club

There was a Roar 08 & an 09 I believe, not sure after that.

Argoose arranged 08 but shortly after had health issues, don't recall much after 09 but that means nothing smile

There is Chimfest.

This year it's a joint event with S-Club (not the group) and is being held later in the year at Thoresby park, Nottingham.

It's a one day event on August bank holiday Monday.

Andrew Greenwood has a car show at Thoresby Park that day and he is allocating us space for Chimfest, S-Club and a general TVR display.

It's early days yet but as soon as I hear anything else I'll post.

My wife and I launch Chimfest back in 2006 and 2007. We had close to 200 Chimaera's to those events. Argoose took over the event in 2008 and renamed it Roar but support from Chimaera owners dwindled and so the event ceased after 2009. I think it's sad that the most abundant TVR marque can't muster enough owner interest to have its own event anymore. An area off to one side of the S Series gathering! Can't we do better than that.

AKA tvrbob

Sorry, rant over.

There were a good number of Chinaeras at Brooklands TVR Day yesterday - out of 185 cars there, I would estimate about 40 were Chimaeras. And Chatsworth must have included well over 100 Chimaeras......

I cannot speak for other owners, but I rather enjoy seeing the mix of different TVRs at these events.

So for Chimfest 2013 to be a success we would need to attract a wide variety of Chimaeras, from both the Unmolested Chimaera Car Club and the Highly Molested Chimaera Car Club, as well as plenty of fans from in between.

And then there's the thorny issue of venue - needs to be somewhere sort of central, but not so far north that it has the southern softies muttering and reaching for their crampons and ice axes..... I would suggest the Newark Showground, or the Peterborough ditto, and would use the space to organise sprint trials, driving skills tests, a drive out around the local area, trade stands, etc etc....... Unfortunately I am not in possession of Lord March's personal fortune to fund such an event, and without lots to do I cannot see there being enough attendees being willing to put their hands in their pockets.....which is another issue - events cost.

Thunder in the Tunnels was free - only 75 TVRs turned up,only about 30 of them were Chimaeras. It was a great day, but perhaps the enthusiasm isn't there?

With so many good mixed TVR events available, and the serious cost of hiring a venue, insurance, etc I can see why it hasn't happened since 2009. If you don't make it interesting enough, insufficient people turn up and the organiser has a holed wallet.

Musing over. I would be willing to have a go at organising one, but have the feeling I would be throwing the phone at the wall after about a month frying (whoops, just spotted my highly appropriate typo), just like my teenage daughter used to when she had boyfriend problems..... phonefuriousfurious

Organising an event of this scale does require commitment and a willingness to put your hand in your own pocket. I would estimate that even with the support of the TVRCC I spent in excess of £400, 3 days holiday and dozens of phone calls per event. You also have to be ready for the masses to complain about having to pay a few quid in entrance fees that many venues insist on. It can be a very rewarding job but you need thick skin and a very forgiving attitude. It's not possible to please everyone and those that aren't pleased will certainly let you and the rest of the community know.

Yes. Even organising TiTTs cost me 250 miles driving, an overnight stay in London, ok the phone calls and emails were included in my comms packages, but it took probably 40 hours of my time too. And I loved every minute of it and would do it again like a shot.
Biggest niggle? I asked all 75 on the list to email me so that i could reply to them and attach the final run instructions......and got 15 replies. It then took me two complete sessions going through the thread page by page to find the missing names, and email them via PH. All of them would have had the activity on the TiTTs thread come up on their "My Stuff", they just hadn't responded. In the end I think I got stuff to almost all of the attendees, but it cost me half a day and two complete evenings....and a rather grumpy wife.
