So driving home tonight, car in front slams on the anchors. I follow suit but don't manage to avoid running over what they have just hit.

Some test has dropped a spare wheel (I'm guessing from their van) in the road.

Have driven over it and initial impressions are it's cracked my front bumper and spoiler.

Upon closer inspection behind the lower front grill is this large substantial bit of plastic with a mahoosive crack through it. I assume (hope) plastic wouldnt be structural. Anyone have any ideas what it is?

Also where do I go from here? Assuming a whole new front bumper, splitter and whatever this is won't be cheap. But I'll lose my NCB if I claim assuming I even can? Car is a Mazda 6 MPS for info.

Looks like the front panel and radiator surround, I personally wouldn't worry to much, does all the front still line up ok?

Yeah unless you really look you can't see any issues apart from the splitter.

Annoying as I am hoping to move the car on in a few months.

I am concerned and will be visiting a garage.

Question is if it ends up being expensive (looking at a lot of replacement parts of the front end) can I claim off my insurance?

Ouch. That's going to be expensive. The MPS parts are arse rapingly expensive and IIRC that splitter was unique to the MPS.

That's not the splitter, it's the front panel... Or in Mazda speak, the shroud panel -

It holds the radiator, A/C condenser, headlights etc..... It's not as expensive as you'd think - £115 + vat

At a guess, no more than a couple of hours labour

Unfortunately the splitter is totalled and the bumper is cracked. Guess is better get an idea from Mazda on cost
