Hi All,

On the off chance, does anybody have a fast road cam for a 3.5 rover v8 sitting around on a shelf ? I've taken the plunge and purchased a second hand set of flow and ported heads so am now searching for a fast camshaft to suit. Nothing too agressive as I want it to still idle and have a good mid range.

I know it is a long shot but rather provide beer tokens to a trusted forum member than spending the next few months searching the fleabay

Cheers All

I saw some standard 4.2 EFi ones on the flea cheap as chips - but you might want a bit wilder than that.

Can the heads cope with extra valve lift (i.e. shortened valve guides)?
I think the RP1 cam by RPI is a good bet for a 3.5L, works well in the 4L anyway.

I've got an RP1 in mine, I think it's a little down on the low end but hardly matters in such a light car. You can feel it really pick up it's skirts as the revs rise.

Idles fine at 800 until the cooling fans kick in :-)

Just had a look on their website - they don't do (what they call) an RP1 any more though they do do an RP4.

I am looking around actively in case I suddenly need to order one for the 400SX too - though my needs will be a little different.

incidentally reading the Piper "successful installation" guide they now recommend running in at 2500 rpm for 20 mins, rather than 2000 rpm.
