Stage 1 is underway and I'm already planning stage 2... I'm out of my mind, and cash!!!

I have a few months to prepare for stage 2, just trying to get some like minded opinions...

Stage 2 will now incorporate:

GF-2000 custom trannie with ratios set accordingly to tyre sizes etc...
Nascar spec custom drive shafts
Custom Hubs
* AP Front 8 pots and AP Rear 6 pots
* Forgeline VR1 Racing wheels - F:19x10 R:19x13
* Tyres: F:295x10x19 R:365x13x19
Flared front and rear arches
Cockpit lockable air diff with Positrax internals

Any views on this? I've been in contact with some drag teams in the US and have had a number of ideas pushed my way... and the above spec sounds more than over-engineered for my needs...
Was looking into proper drag radials and smaller alloys, but shes for the road too, so went down the Forgeline route, I think they supply the same alloys to the Hennesey tuners for Vipers... the 19x13's are only 22lbs!!!!

Yes of course, I aint loaded like some of the chaps on here who drive around in Lambo's and have track cerberas... hehe...

She'll be an everyday car as well as a drag car... not into tracking personally so I'll stick to pointing and squirting... afterall thats what tivvers do best.. hehe

The cockpit switchable mapping and clutch switchable charger is what'll get her through the MOT, its a good thing, I dont think I'll switch the blower on, on the roads... (especially with the PSI I'll be running) eeeeekkkkk....

Mad Max - here I come...

Mid November is the date - but that could change - depending on how quickly the american firms deliver the custom spec'd pistons/rods/valves etc...

My doors are always open - just bring a bottle of tequilla to keep me smiling...

Yup, at least they'll fill the 19's up nicely...
Feckin costly though - but they're space ages ahead of Brembos... the others I was considering were the Wilwood setup... but not much support over here for them...

I've been given the options to go ABS and full traction control... but I wanted to her to stay an all out 'drivers car' and rejected... the engineers looked at me with that look on their face "he's flipping nuts"...

SXS,

What you are doing is mental but cool as feck too .

Your threads are funny to read because what you're doing is so extreme!

I can't think of a car I am more interested to see when it's finished .

Thanks, I wont be holding back, when she's finished you'll all get to see her, and I'm sure my arm can be twisted for a few test drives by a select group cerbie owners...

Edited to say:
If it wasnt for the encouragement and support of you chaps and joo - I'd still be saving for a while to get a Mosler - a good thing I didnt... whats better than british muscle on steroids...

SXS - how about some Brembo asymmetric 8-pots with all the bits to bolt on to your uprights direct? I had them on my car and they have incredible stopping power - and they'll never ever fade on a track day, the tires beg for mercy first. They're also more sensitive - lovely to drive with.

They're the gravel spec brakes from the Ford WRC. I'm even throwing in free fitting at Joospeed - good idea to change the brake hoses for Goodridge braided ones too.

They're a well-sorted set!!!, but I'm a sucker for cooled things... (heat scares the hell out of me! after the melted/twisted/cracked things I've seen at the engineers joint) the AP 8 pot watercooled jobbies really tickle my fancy and are geared to handle a large amount of weight shift at mega torque... but drop me an email for how much you're charging for them and I'll see if I could use them on the back... this brake setup will definitely be a wet-dream for most enthusiasts - brembo 8 pot rears and AP watercooled 8 pot fronts... Just out of interest, whats the weight of your brembo set danny?
Apart from the cooling (and F1 heritage), the other reason I'm going with AP, is the fact they're lightweight...

Watercooled is much heavier, and more complex. The standard brakes are relatively easy to overheat on track days, but I never managed to cook the Brembo's. So why would you need water cooling? The rears don't really need to be upgraded I reckon - I've never had them fade.

A better and simpler way to cool them would be an air duct anyway?

The only reason rally-cars need watercooled brakes is for heavy left-foot braking.

The engineers have done quite a few AP 8 pot watercooled installations, and the complexity means nothing to them - just time and more cost to me... but they have said, due to the way AP have designed these particular brake systems, the weight is kept in league with other non-watercooled systems and still performs better.... I think I just like the feeling of over-engineering... ok, it might cost a little more here and there - but hey - I wont be doing it again!
I need the extra power on the back for certain reasons - I have some crazy ideas up my sleeves! hehe watch this space...

Purely from the pub bragging point of view, I'd have water-cooled brakes every time, they sound the canine's undercarriage. Havent got a scooby about the technical pros & cons but Id have some if I was as bonkers & as loaded as young Mr SXS

Ash, I'm enjoying watching you spend your money on something awesome, makes a change from my wife spending my money & ending up with nothing to show 'cept for a dozen pairs of shoes and a half dozen handbags. Wouldnt be so bad if she spent 20% of her budget in Ann Summers or suchlike (read as filthy internet sex shopIm never that lucky)

Oh feck yeah!!!! I'm over the moon now!!!

Just got confirmation from [Classified],
going to get a automatic trannie fitted, designed to handle 2500bhp ( screw the GF-2000 )!!!
and it only ways 35lbs! and.. and... switchable modes, either tach, timer or paddle shift!!!!

Feck, I nearly fell off my chair when I got the mail!

Its costing a bum and a half and a leg and two cows, but what the hell, I want it - my future drag runs are already starting to sound interesting!....

I just hope the poor old AJP block can handle this torture.... hehe

Feck - I'm over the moon, cant state it enough!!!

Thats my gearbox worries out the window... phew....

Reliability is top on my list - whence why I'm spending a fortune on all of this...

Ash, what tranny is this? 35lbs is to good to be true. I've been looking at auto tranny's with trans-lock etc to take 800 lbs/ft etc and they don't weigh anywhere as little as 35 lbs.

its one of the most well kept secrets of some of the fastest ET holders over in the US... I promised not to mention what it is... and I'm serious! Apparently the company has filed for a patent and in the meantime only a handful of very select people can get their units - and I just happened to get chatting to a 5 second stock car runner... who loves TVR's... especially after seeing Swordfish... hehe...
