All,

Are there any insurance implications of running branded, non-N rated tyres on a Porsche?

Thanks in advance.

Until you have an accident and the insurance company states that the vehicle was modified beyond the manufacturer's original build specification.

This can be a 'get-out' for them, so if you do run non-N-rated tyres you should tell them.

I'd be interested to see if that affects your premium?

Assuming that the size, load rating and speed index all matched or exceeded OE I think that you need to tell us which insurer to not use then. In general it isn't an issue, so for exceptions it would be beneficial for you to supply detail...

Rubbish. Most manufacturers have an equivalent to the N rating and hardly anyone replaces the tyres with simarly marked ones.

If insurance was a serious concern then the majority of cars on the road are uninsured.

As said before the performance difference between different brands of N rated tyres far exceeds that between N rated and none N rated tyres of the same brand so how can it be meaningful?

I have NEVER heard or read of anyone having an insurance issue with non N rated tyres.

Care to expland on your experience?

I asked the same question in an earlier similar post. I asked if anyone had ever actually had a claim refused due to non N rated tyres..... I would love to hear what happened?

Why fit non N rated? I have found the price difference to be negligible

A perfectly reasonable point, but not what was asked!

'Cause not all tyres (that one may wish to try on their Porsche) are available with N rating!

Whilst waiting for that, take a look at the new Consumer Insurance Act.

Because they don't make 19" Super Sports or R888s with an 'N' rating!

Falken Azenis FK453, set of 4 @ Blackcircles is ~£700.
Find me some N rated tyres that get near that price!

I bought 4 Michelin PS2 N rated tyres from Camskill the other week for mine.

£305.40 for the front pair
£404.40 for the rear pair
£10 each tyre fitting and balancing
£50 fuel card rebate from the Michelin offer

Total

£699.80...I beat it by 20p smile
