Main event grandstand seats
Discussion
Just tried to buy grandstand seats for Main Event and see that only the first block near the startline is on sale. Have they removed the rest of the seats or is there another reason they are not on sale?
Emailed Pod to ask why but they couldn't be arsed to answer me.

Strange would have thought the ones nearest the startline would go first.
In all honesty though I prefer not to use them, not comfy, packed in like sardines, flip seats, I'm no giant but nowhere for your legs, cant see full runs as everyone leans forward or stands up to try to get a view themselves (or run up and stop on the walkways just as a race is on) and if you're a smoker you cant have a fag either - even though you're outdoors at a drag strip(the smoke and fumes are unhealthy
remember) always cracks me up that one.
Oh and you pay extra for the above priveleges.
If you don't mind a bit of muck head for the bank, take something to sit on (leather jacket for me) and you can move to different viewpoints of the track or sit/stand/stretch out at will.
But don't let me put you off!

I actually like the grandstand seats, I used to be a confirmed bank man but my ankles start to give me problems if I spend too much time up there these days ! If you can get near the startline you are very close to the action and the noise is stunning, plus it gives you a base to come back to all the time. Thats as things were last year anyway.

I find them ok when they are half empty and you aren’t allocated to the one seat and can position or reposition yourself among the crowd where you feel is best for the viewpoint – which can be really good. This is only possible when they are free at less busy times/events of course. They are good for the startline view and the noise, but when full and you're stuck in the one seat you can’t see the full race I find. I have paid/been allocated a couple of times at the busier events but gave up. Once had a pitside VIP balcony for a day as well – that was money well spent!Bill
I do miss the planks of wood on scaffolding from days long gone though
