I think I may have seen something about this on here before, but in the absence of a useable search.......any recommendations for decent dog-friendly hotels? We'd like a weekend away at the end of May/start of June. and we'd like to take the dog. She's uber-well behaved indoors, so no issues with damage or behaviour. We'd like somewhere she's welcome in the bar/lounge. Happy to put her in the room at mealtimes though.

Location? Well, what have you got? We're in Kent, so 2-3 hours would be good but might consider a little further afield if it's really worth it.

Doh - just seen the sticky at the top of the page! Will look there also!

Well, thanks for the suggestions, and I've also thrashed Google to within an inch of its life, but it seems that we have chosen a weekend (1/2 June) when the whole of the dog-friendly accommodation south of The Wash is fully booked! Can't understand why - but other than one place coming in at a chippy £500 for 2 nights, or another inn in an anonymous town in the middle of Anonshire, we've drawn multiple blanks - Sat 1st June is a good night to be a hotelier apparently!

We had our dog with us at Kinloch Lodge on Skye. Cracking location and an excellent restaurant. There's some nice woodlands and loch-side walks nearby.

There is a wiki at top of page. If you stay somewhere that you'd recommend do update the article! smile

Probably a bit late but someone I know highly recommended 'hoste' in Norfolk. They even have a book about the place! Looks nice might have to try it. But we have 3 dogs now so renting a holiday cottage is easier!

http://www.craigynoscastle.com/ is about 4 hours from Kent (well, Dartford at least). It's in the Brecon Beacons National Park and is dog friendly-I'm not sure about the hotel's cat though!

Likewise The White Horse @ Brancaster Staith. Some rooms open straight out onto a courtyard and the coastpath.

Went last year fanatic place thumbup,

Was wondering about those seals that hang about near Dunvegan that you can go round on a little boat trip, do you think people can paddle up to them in a canoe for a closer look or would they 'av u' smile

Well, it is THAT weekend and we are ensconced at The Inn at Cranborne, Dorset. I'll add it to the wiki. Very relaxed about dogs, it's a nice property and quite comfortable, but the local amenities are limited - you need a car. Food-wise, perfectly acceptable but never going to win any gastro awards. Fine if you need somewhere in this part or the world. Just make sure your room's not over the bar; it's not a noisy place but for some reason which we'll point out to them, the music is louder in the room than it is in the bar.

Just returned from a 7 night stay with my lovely lady and George our cocker spaniel. Honestly the staff couldn't have been more welcoming to all three of us and clearly genuine dog lovers. They allow dogs in the bar and in the conservatory part of the lobby as well as in the garden which are all places you can eat with your dog. Thanks for the recommendation. We didn't think such a fab place existed. No connection with them - just delighted we could have George with us on holiday :-)
Recommended!

Glad you enjoyed it.

We go at least once a tear - they treat out Great Dane like royalty, bringing him treats out of the kitchen after service!

We love it here.
