What bike for a commute

Novicey cyclist looking to upgrade my goosed mtb with road tyes to a hybrid for general use and a 4 mile commute.
Looking at-
A new Carrera Subway ltd editiin at 199 or best offer.
A used Subway gld? With some extras at 80 on auction with 2 days to go.
An oldish looking but tidy claude butler levante at circa 100
A 2009 cannondale badboy,starting bids 200 and no bids with two days to go.

What do you reckon chaps?

For 4 miles? Just keep the MTB you have...?

Otherwise the Subway. Don't have suspension for riding on road, just get gloves to cushion your hands.

Current apollo mtb needs a new chain,gears are clunky to not working n the brakes are shot so time to move on.
I think i'll go for the new subway,gonna pop a cheaky low bid in.

I've a Subway Ltd Edition 2008 ish, disk brakes, did me fine for a 3m commute for 2 years, now passed on to my son. Only issue is all the allen head bolts went rusty quickly.

Careful with sizing though. The 18" frame comes up small (compared to mtb). At 5'11 I should have had the larger size sold to me, but it fits my 5'7" son just fine.

Aah thats interesting as its an 18" frame, im 6ft but quite short of leg (29") dya reckon id get away with it?

Took the plunge on the new subway,paid £185 so quite happy with that,lets hope the size is ok.

I use a Cube CLS Ltd Pro for my 4 mile commute. To be honest its probably a little overkill with Hydraulic discs but the subway will be fine.

Ive had 3 carrera subways (1 and 2) and am now on a carrera crossfire 2. Excellent bikes and have served me well over thousands of miles in all conditions.
