My thermostatic switch has stopped working! No warning just a sudden overheating experience. Any recommendations about purchasing a replacement?
(Talking of which, where have all the alternative parts lists gone? I can't find any and Google used to return at least three.)
Finally, my old one, when working used to cut in at about 95 degrees. I was going to get a lower temp replacement. Does this sound like the best plan?
Thanks.

An adjusable stat on the outlet of the rad will be much quicker to bring the fans on than the otter on the input.
This works a lot better because you only really want the fans on when you don't have enough ram air feed through the rad. The rad outlet temperature shoots up when you don't have enough ram, so this is an ideal signal to control the fans. An otter switch in the top hose doesn't bring the fans in until the engine has started to overheat, and doesn't switch off again until it has cooled down regardless of how fast you are moving. You do need to remember that the bottom hose runs cooler than the top hose so you need to set the otter to a lower temperature. (I normally set mine at 65 and 70 deg.)
Out of interest, how accurate are the temperature gauges?
I was sceptical when I bought my Chimp as the owner said he'd had problems overheating and that having relaced the otter. It's normal temp is 70-75 and doesn't get above 90 in stationary traffic. I assumed the gauge was just rubbish and in fact the temp was nearer 100-110 but maybe I've go the lower temp otter?
