Are these people actually a Trackday Operator, or do they just sell space on other people's days?

For example, the day I was thinking of is actually shown as a Mazda On Track day, but trackdays.co.uk are selling space on it, at the same price as the MOT people. And when I tell my insurers, they'll want to know who the organiser is, is that trackdays.co.uk, MOT or the track (not an MSV one).

Trackdays.co.uk are an agency so all the dates they are listing are on behalf of other companies, they take bookings for them for a commission. The company actually running the trackday would be MOT in your example.

yes
So long as the people actually running the day (MOT) are ATDO or FAEO your insurance should be fine.

TDs fee is commissioned from MOT so you pay the same. But if you know its MOT book direct.

Royally pissed off with these folks.

I am a newbie at trackdays, I have a Westy and recently did a single seater experience at Donnington. So as you do I got fired up and booked my first trackday............without doing much research.

Anyhoo, £160 for Mallory next week. The confirmation I got was from Javelin with Trackdays.co.uk in very small print as the booking agent.

Now to the point. Two weeks ago I discovered car is fubared and have no time to fix before the event, so phone Javelin who say if I'd booked direct with them I could have a refund, but need to contacts trackdays.co.uk as I'd booked with them, and they "should" offer a 6 month deferment, but I wouldn't get a refund from them.

Bummer thinks I, and sends an email to trackdays.co.uk and didn't get a reply for 9 days. Phone them today to find out why their customer services is shyte, to be told they don't do deferments at all, ever, and I should have listened to the sales script. Seriously, that what he told me.

Tossers, don't use them. Yes, I didn't do my research properly. My fault. Tossers anyway.

Use their calendar as it's really good, then go and book direct!

I have made the same mistake this weekend and booked with Trackdays.co.uk instead of Javelin directly.

Javelin, make your site better!!

I booked a day with them in January, not knowing they weren't an organiser...

The day was cancelled unfortunately. They wouldn't give a refund, but told me I can rebook anytime this year.

Yep, I got caught with these people once....cancelled event and no refund ! They are just a website that takes a commission from the real operator taking all the risk and actually working hard to give us a day.....and with all the ET stuff, you should know who has your money....avoid !

How do you locate the real operator on their website?

You can't, but if you Google the circuit and the date it generally pops up the link to the TDO website.

Or just bookmark and check the calendars of:

Bookatrack
Javelin
MSVT
No limits trackdays
Goldtrack

And you'll pretty much have it all covered!!

I booked through them on a day at castle Combe. They seemed perfectly efficient. Day was run by apex trackdays. I just booked with them direct the next time

You won't find any of our (Gold Track) dates on that website though.

The t&c's are tight but I remember a post somewhere in the depths of the "easytrack ceased trading" thread about bookings through Trackdays got their money back or another date. Its quite a good booking insurance. Easier than claiming back through a credit card if the TDO is a bit wobbly.

I also wonder if they continue to advertise days cancelled for some time or non-existent in the first place as for example I have tried everywhere to find the organiser of the two following events they are listing:-
Sat 17th August Castle Combe £189
Sat 31st August Goodwood £249

Any info anyone? as to whether these events are actually happening and if so who is organising as I can't find them mentioned anywhere else having checked loads of track day organisers calenders and some other general sites that advertise dates from the different organisers.

Well I was going to use trackdays to buy my mum her 70th birthday present. A half day at Donnington on friday 02/08/2013.
Does anyone know who is running this event so I can book direct please?

An for anyone thinking a 70 year old on a track day.
She holds a formula ford and a rally license.
owns a audi A5 quatro 3.0TDI sports coupe. Lives in the lake district and drives it how it should be driven smile
The track day is so she can open it up properly and not have to worry about speed cameras wink

Cheers
