Plastic in the oven - Should i be worried?

I've just found out the SWMBO left a magnet wrapped in plastic in the oven yesterday, she found it it melted at the bottom today.

Now, i cooked my dinner last night (obviously the cause of the melting) should i be worried about the possible fumes going into my food?

If you are worried about cancer then be assured it is exposure to many years of the same irritant that could cause problems. Short term you'd have been ill by now!

Why was she cooking a plastic coated magnet?

Grilled is far better.

I once put a pizza in the oven without realising that the thin circle of foamy plastic that is under the pizza inside the box was still attached to it. I thought the pizza tasted ever so slightly odd, but not odd enough to stop me eating it. Next time I used the oven I noticed some bits of shriveled plastic in the bottom. This was a few years ago. I'm still alive.

I've done that too. The taste stays with you for long while.

Glad to say I survived the weekend, cheers for the responses.

With regards to the missus cooking a plastic coated magnet, not sure why she was cooking it, but it had more moisture in it than her pork chops.
