Yup.
Monkeys Vantage (as I refer to it), is now resident at Generation AMR for it's anticipated clutch replacement.
Being away for a couple of weeks to film a new TV ad allows the boys to take their time with it and discover how much of the clutch make up needs attention.
Touch wood the flywheel is still salvageable and just the plate needs a change.
All will be revealed in due course.

It has always been a concern of mine that on a job like this one could be told that the whole lot needs replacement, costing consideration more than perhaps what actually needs doing. How would you ever know unless you're under the car with them when it's being dismantled?
Well fortunately Mr Appleby will be sending me pictures through the process to show me the condition of each component as they get to them. Along with his advice as to what bits are usable or not.
And after spending a couple of hours in the factory looking at the parts, learning and understanding what's what, I feel confident and happy that my Monkeymobile is in good hands.

We did begin discussion on performance mods too, but that's a thread for another time.
For now, Clutch clutch clutch!

Any idea on how good their bodywork mods are? The v12 sills upgrade on their website looks really good and at a cheap price !

So do they do their own clutch, or are you just going for the AM standard (smelly) clutch?

The bodywork upgrades are very good and high quality. I was looking at them today.

And there are a few clutch options available. If it's just the plate I need I'll be going for a bit better than the OEM.
The option of GT4 clutch and flywheel is also an option.

Beware Steve. Reported to be undriveable on the road! Which makes sense if you think about it...

Yeah to be honest I'm probably more inclined to go for an upgraded clutch plate only. AP Racing clutch is a gud'un...

I went through all the options when I was looking, wanted something future proof as I knew bigger power would be coming. BR don't fit or recommend the GT4 sintered plate clutch any longer unless owner knows its a 'mans clutch for mans car', in other words you lose tractability round town or at low speeds. The organic twinplate clutch is the way to go and also works for sportshift where sintered twinplate flags an error state and is not fit for application on a sportshift road car. Also a lighter flywheel is a joy to drive with smile

How would you get the GT4 clutch Steve? Valeo won't sell outside of prodrive so does that mean Applebys / Gen AMR are acting as official sales outlet? This will be interesting as price from Prodrive to motorsport agent is about £850...
