Hi guys, hope you can help
I have some smoke coming from the left passenger back wheel after driving for about 15 mins
I noticed it last week and assumed a brake had maybe seized on.
But that now doesn't seem to be the case.
It looks like it maybe a bit if oil coining from the diff
Or certainly in that area, basically where the drive shaft bolts through the disk, there is some little drips of oil that is buning,
I can hear it sizzle.

What's the thought here, forgive my lack if knowledge, but I'm assuming there is a seal gone somewhere and needs replacing??

Cheers mate, after a closer look, there is a bit of oil around the front of the diff,
, looked at the bible and it mentions a condenser pipe?
That can leak, but couldn't quite see where it was, I did only have ltd time mind,
Dies that ring any bells?

Rick

My diff was leaking slightly from the input shaft. Ward engineering got me the replacement seal for not much money. Bu&&er to replace though. I had to go and get an impact wrench to get the nut off. I assume the drive shafts connections would have a similar seal. Give Ward engineering a bell to discuss. They were really helpfull.

Dropping the back end out can be a pig. But strangely mine went back in a piece of cake.

Good opertunity to replace and dodgy rear suspension bushes at the same time.

Cheers Karl.. I may leave this to a pro.. Little scared of that scale of job, I'm gonna put it in for a tune up soon, just timing an mixture type thing.
So may get the seals, and ask them to do the job, gonna be easier for a pro.
Would there be any concerns for me doing short journeys in the meantime?

Just bear in mind that it is oil getting onto a brake disc!...Its probably not enough to contaminate the pad's in its present state and can be cleaned off with brake cleaner..But i would keep an eye on it and stick to low speed driving just to be on the safe side...Ziga

I've changed one without dropping the back end, wasn't too tricky. I needed a new bearing too
