Probably a silly question but can you just turn up at Le Mans and park without having to reserve a space in advance? We camped at Bleu Nord last year but seeing as my parents only live an hour away we are just going to rock up and buy tickets on the gate this year. If we aren't man enough to last the full 24 hours without some sleep we can scoot home for a few hours shut eye and then pick the race back up again in the morning.

I am sure you will be able to but the spaces close by will be the reserved ones so best to buy a space before you get there

I am pretty sure that nearly all the car parks close to the outside of the circuit are pay for in advance but I think that Parking Rouge is availabe on a turn up and pay basis, but things change each year and I may be wrong. Give the ACO a call is the best way to find out.

If you are intending on turning up and buying tickets at the spot, why not buy them now online with the option of collecting them at the Rotonde? That way you are sure there's space left!

I've been 5 years on the bounce and parking rouge is where we always park. It's pay in advance parking only. Without a pass you will not be able to gain access to any car park

You can just turn up and park at the side of the road - it's what plenty of locals seem to do. Finding a space won't be easy though.

You could also park elsewhere in Le Mans and get the tram to the circuit - I'd guess you wouldn't be the only person doing that though so again finding a space may not be easy.

Or you could just buy a Parking Rouge ticket to have a guaranteed space. Just checked one of the ticket agencies and they are a whopping £32!!! (so really not that much).

Do folks still camp on the car parks at Le Mans? Its been 3 or 4 years since we last went and tents are pitched between the cars

Would have to be a very small tent, the cars are parked very tight together, I can't recall seeing any tents the last couple of years by the car park next to bleu nord, why not buy a camping ticket for blue nord then you can either park or pitch a tent and be fairly close to the entrance by the pit straight, there was bleu nord tickets going on eBay last year for £25 a few weeks before the race,

The extra cost of camping ticket is not much so get a camping ticket rather than a parking ticket, the loos will be closer and your will be a lot safer

In the past me and others have got p***ed off by peeps pitching tents in Parking Blanc. Because all the car parking spaces are set out these people usually pitch on the access roads and jam things up. No problems waking them up at say 3:00 am so others can move their cars in or out. It tends not to happen nowadays.

Due to work commitments i'm driving down on Saturday afternoon with a mate, should arive by 8pm, watch some night racing then have to head back to blightly on the 5am tunnel on Sunday morning.

Any suggestions where to park at LM, preferably secure, but will need access to the car as we'll move around the circuit to watch the race (Mulsanne / Arnage etc) as well as inside the circuit.

Suggestions very welcome and I hope everyone has an enjoyable LM 2013.

Cheers

If you are planning on 'moving around the circuit' race night, I wouldn't worry about where to park, as you'll be in a static car park most of the time anyway.

Cheers! Parking booked in Parking Blanche as a back up. Get into LM around 8pm, straight to Arnage village for some grub then off to watch some night racing followed by a quick blat back to Blightly whilst plod are sleeping.

Have a fun and safe trip all!
