Hello all, first post over here.
After much soul searching and pondering as to what to get to complement the Chimaera I think I might be leaning towards the Quattroporte.
We really wanted a RR Cerbera, but, personally I'm not sure the direction TVR are going right now is for me so I'm opening my eyes a little.
Have seen the Maser down at Meridian in Lyndhurst and it really does it for me, the performance I think is OK and the looks are great, but I'd like some feedback from real owners. Bearing in mind I currently own a TVR so the oddities of these sorts of cars don't worry me, but what am I looking at in terms of power, reliability, servicing costs etc?
Also does anyone know the website address for Meridian, I've done a google but still can't find it.

TIA

Sorry - can't help you with either Meridian's web site (they don't seem to have one) or the Q's drivability as I drive the 3200GT but have you read this?

www.maserati.co.uk/jsp/introSottosezione.jsp?category=%2Fmaserati%2Fcars%2Fquattroporte&menuKey=m50&BV_SessionID=@@@@1203049259.1096892386@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadcmjlkmgkdcefeceegdgimdfmg.0

There's lots of other info on that site, too.

FWIW, I agree with you.

The new Quattroporte is a magnificent car. Striking and classy in a way that nothing else in its class is.

I mean, I ask you, who would choose a Mercedes stuttgart-Taxi over a Quattroporte?

Lovely, lovely car.

I saw my first one in the metal a few months ago. It was parked right next to a Merc CL55 AMG which just looked sooooo dull and boring next to the big Mazzer.

Fantastic Car but will probably depreciate like a stone so better off waiting until you can get a low mileage 2nd hand one

Exactly my plan - you think I can afford new!!

I've seen some 2001/W Models for sale around the £22k mark but they are only advertised as 3.2, surely the bigger engine is the better option? Or am I getting confused with another model?

Davey S1 - just took a look at your profile and tried to mail you, but PistonHeads says you mail address isn't valid.
I have a question about property - would you mind if I asked?

Yes, you're getting confused.

The 3200GT is a two door coupe whereas the quatroporte is a 4 door saloon.

3200's are great (yes, I've got one).

0 - 60 in about 5.8 secs (less if it's a manual), top speed 170 mph, plenty of room in the back (I believe )

Here's mine.

You're looking for a S/H 3200GT or a 4200GT.

Maserati 3200
1997 - 2002
3.2 Twin Turbo (Maserati engine)
Variants
3200 GTA (Auto - 4 spd)
3200 GT (MAnual - 6spd)
Assetto Corsa - (Auto or MAnual) +10bhp, dropped suspension, track tyres etc

Maserati 4200
2002-Now

4200 Cambiocorsa (Paddlebox)
4200 GT (Manual 6 spd)
Engine from Ferrari 360 moderna bored out to 4200cc and tuned for torque.

Variants

Spyder (ok not the same car but shares most of the mechanicals) - same as above but around 10cm shorter, 2 seats and convertible.

Gransport (just out)
400bhp, bodykit, severly sorted suspension and 5 stars in evo.

Good (late) 3200s for 30+ depending on milage and condition. Early ones for less.

Good 4200's 02 available for less than 40k
03 around 45-50, 04 cars for around 50 ish.

MAserati Quattroporte

4 door saloon.
Same 4200cc engine as 4200gt.
brilliant chassis - dodgy auto box.

Yes you are!

The very last of the previous Quatroporttes were 2000s.

Completely different car that did for the last few months of it's life have rhe same 3.2 twin turbo engine as the GT

The current QP was launched at the beginning of the year with the first cars arriveing in July ish time.

Like all big execs they will take a big hit once the novelty wears off, but this could well be in more like 2 years rater than 12 moths due to the rareity of the car and the existing order book.

(after that they wil fall like a stone!!!)

Thanks for the feedback, but I don't think I'm getting confused with the GT.
This says it's a Quattroporte but is in the low £20k's

Or am I looking at an old model and not the lovely one I really want?

I need to get myself down to Meridian in the New Forest don't I?

Apologies Mark - you are talking about quattroportes . This is an old 1990s Quatroportte, not the svelte gorgeous think that is currently retailing new for 75k...

None needed. Thought I was on the right track.
Will have to wait for the 2nd hand prices to fall before I can get my mitts on one.

Wonder how long before they loose 50% in depreciation?

If the latest ones were 20k I'd have one tomorrow!

As mentioned already, they will fall, but with this year (and next years) allocation allegedly sold already (75 cars per year I think) they will probably hold up for a while. (I've only seen 2 out and about that weren't demonstrators so far).

Oh well when they do...

In the meantime the appearance of the Gransport means that the next generation coupe is in the wings somewhere... wonder how long we ahve to wait for that one!

I do like to Coupe, but really fancy something which could sit people in the back comfortably.
The Wife still wants a RR Cerbera, but I think the Quattroporte is even more desirable and just stunning, and probably almost as quick!

Are we allowed to ask in these forums about reliability? I have heard that Maserati are known for dodgy electrics and stuff, but owning a TVR and knowing what bull$hit is banded about regarding their reliability I'd rather hear it from you guys.

Are services going to give me a pain in the wallet? I know my mates Ferrari used to cost him a packet.
