These do not agree with my lower back.

The ones in the e39 seem to be as bad for it as my e46 which is disappointing. They don't have lumbar support, anyone else have this issue or a way around it?

Only notice it on longer journeys but it's an absolute God-send to get out the car after an hour and a half to stand up and walk.

Have you got the seat base set too low...?

Or have the base titled too high at the front....?

If your knees are above the line of your hip joint, and the angle between your spine and thighs, is less than 90deg this can lead to an onset of lower back pain.

I had this problem when I first got my 135, and was considering selling it after only 2-3 months ownership, but my Chiropractic, who's a bit of a petrolhead himself, came out to the car, and told me I had the seat settings all wrong.

After he told me how to set it correctly, lower back pain disappeared after 2 days.

Thanks for that. I've tilted the seat base down as far as it can go and tilted the back of the seat back a bit. I don't think it's possible for me to have my knees equal to or below my hip joint though.

I suffer from lower back pain (indirectly caused by a childhood condition) and the only car seat I am comfortable in is the BMW Sports seat (1 series) which somewhat limits my choice of cars - I can't spend more than 20 mins in the OH's mini without being semi-crippled! I like the ability to tilt the seat base back which seams to work for me, and the adjustable "side" lumber which helps keeps my back in position.
