Power and weight of a go kart

I appreciate this is something of a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but, how much roughly would you expect a standard social racing arrive and drive type go kart to way and how much power.

I am assuming something like 130-150kg for the kart and engine and 10-12 hp?

about 5-6 for a single engine (4 stroke) one and double for a twin engine I think.

I have a feeling your weight is a little high.

Well the twin engined karts raced in prokarts have a minimum weight of 168kg with driver in, I used to carry 16kg of lead and I weighed 67kg so that would put the kart at 85kg. The engines were sp engines and had 5.9hp each which is very good for 4/ Hondas, standard ones are around 4.5hp ish

a hire kart will be way heavier than a race kart though, have you seen how hard you can drive them into things without them really bending?

Off to Daytona in MK tonight for a bash with some guys from work and the spec of the karts is:

139Kg.
6.5hp x 2 engines

Have a go in the DMax karts there. no idea on stats but they are about 3 secs a lap faster than the prokarts.

It was wet last night but not raining and there were some out while we were there. One was seriously quick in tricky conditions and the others were comical, 2 were dog slow and we kept overtaking them and the other 2 were setting about the same lap times as us but would overtake and then crash nearly every lap.

Great fun in the wet on rock hard slicks though, spent 25 minutes pretty much on opposite lock trying to bully the understeery/oversteery things around the track.

been there for a damp A&D session. The first chicane looked like a scrap yard as I calmly arrived and took the corner. Everyone else had come out the pits flat out and gone straight on

Sounds familiar, the tight hairpin right near the end of the lap was fun too trying to pick your way through 3-4 karts all tangled up facing the wrong way was quite interesting!
