Cat c licence: is it worth it?

Morning guys,
So I'm thinking of getting my cat c licence, my best mate works as a roll on off driver for a scrap metal company and there is possibly an opening to work there if I get my licence, but not a certainty.
Looking at prices for the training plus initial cpc comes to about £1800.
I really want to get my licence and get a stable job with stable money, is a driving job gonna give me that?
I case the job at the scrap yard doesn't become a reality, are there job out there?
Sorry for the amount of questions, I don't wanna pay loads of money to have a licence but no job to get!

As you have no experience, you'll probably have to go on the agencies. With that, expect crap jobs with crap money. And I mean crap. 3am phone calls instructing you to get to the nearby RDC as they can't get the drivers, only to wait in a crappy little hut for 3hrs? It will happen: I speak from experience of making those calls! Nights, days, weekends, more nights, more short notice, the lot. Expect minimal money, supermarket RDCs and sporadic work for the first few months. Get good/known, and you can expect the same minimal money but with a bit more work at the same place.

It does worry me, with no experience I could potentially have the licence and no work. Maybe I should just stick to plastering
With the amount of C1 licence holders depleting quickly (grandfather rights) and the ability to gain ur c1 automatically when u pass your c, class 2 driver demand has dropped off. The only way to earn good money as a driver nowadays is to hold a class 1 licence or find a firm that undertakes specialist work.
It makes u far more employable by having it and its always thers to fall back on!
