Trackday noise question.....
Discussion
I'm stressing over my noise!!
I've changed my exhaust & I'm worried that my car may fail the Donington 98db driveby limit, but don't know how i can check to be sure, without booking a day there ( which is risky & potentially expensive if i fail ).
What static reading at what revs would equate to a 98db driveby limit??
Or is there another way of finding out??

depends on spec of car and induction etc but general rule of thumb is around 3dB less than static (ie 101dB).I've changed my exhaust & I'm worried that my car may fail the Donington 98db driveby limit, but don't know how i can check to be sure, without booking a day there ( which is risky & potentially expensive if i fail ).

turbos/SC's etc will make a difference as they're noisier under load.

In general most track day organisers will allow you to do a static test even if you aren't booked on the day, but of course this will only be a static test, and may not be 100% representative.
On top of this, the track day orgeniser will generally tell you where the drive by meter is situated & if you do an early short-shift at the meter you will generally not lose out but be able to pass the drive by.
