film protections = in light of vulnerable paint....
Discussion
I had armourfend on a previous car and will have it on the Vantage when I get around to a respray
you really want the paint nearly new, with no imperfections, before you put the film on....as a minimum if you have no stone chips now, I would get it detailed/paint correction, so its as perfect as possible
then with a good film installer and quality film, it will be hard to see

The problem with many films especially the 3m one marketed as 'ventureshield' used by most of the companies previously mentioned is that whilst it stops most of the chips 'some' still penetrate the film, and, when this happens it begines to look a mess, theonly option is to apply paint on top to try to cover it up.
I have had it on many vehicles, on the Aston, the front 24 in of the bonnet seem to be worst affected along with the rear quarter panle ahead of the rear wheels. My film was damaged in both those areas within one month of fitting and it cost about £650.
I would not go down this route again, however there is another film, more expensive called xpel that is supposed to be self healing and might be better???

Hum.. fair enough. I had it on Lotus elises in the past but never since. I dry to drive far away from cars in front of me and avoid convoy type drives. Yet, stones are everywhere.I have had it on many vehicles, on the Aston, the front 24 in of the bonnet seem to be worst affected along with the rear quarter panle ahead of the rear wheels. I used to hate VS but inherited on my last Vantage it did 23k miles with absolutely no penetration of the film. My current S has had it on from new (now 11k miles) and that has no penetration.I have had it on many vehicles, on the Aston, the front 24 in of the bonnet seem to be worst affected along with the rear quarter panle ahead of the rear wheels. I know it will get tatty but when it does I'll just replace it.
I have VS on mine. Only got 1,500 miles on and heard a stone hit the front of the car hard when out in her the other day. When washing her yesterday there is now a small hole in the VS but the paintwork is still ok. Hate to think what damage it would have done without the film protection on it. As Mikey says when it gets tatty replace it - much better than seeing a stone chip on the front.

well that my point really, with no VS you could touch it up! I ended up removing mine and when doing so it took a number of stone chiped sized paint with it- so it had to be painted anyway.what amazes me is that mikey has now chips at all after 11 K miles, all my cars suffered and I do stay away from cars in front- maybe its the rural roads!
