An Alfa website has a register of 156 & 147 GTAs. They are listed separately, as are Sportwagons. About a dozen 156s are listed and I think that only one is a Sportwagon. At first glance it seems that more 156s have been written off or scrapped than are currently running. The Alfa archive guy in Italy is able or willing to provide very little information, merely limiting his reply to the fact that only 515 156 GTAs were ever made.
Anyone on this forum have any more information re 156 GTAs ? On the basis of the very limited numbers of them made, they are likely to be more desirable than my DB9 Volante in a few years time.

The figures tend to be a bit muddled, but, the number of Sportwagons is somewhere between 104 & 107, & saloons roughly double that. That's UK spec, imported by AR. There are a few others that have come in as private imports, including some Selespeeds. I guess about 10% or so are no more. The "515" figure is probably a RHD number, as there are a couple if South Africa, some in Australia, a few in the Gulf & some more in Hong Kong. More desirable than a DB9...? Doubt it, desirability is in the eye of the beholder & whilst I love our Alfa, it's too similar to look at to the standard model: the spoilers...spoil it a bit, for me!
But rarity, you might be right, I see more Astons on the trip to work than GTAs & it takes a lot more to write off an Aston, so more should survive. I think Aston were aiming for a minimum of 3000 a year, which would exceed GTA production numbers very quickly.

Having had Tiptronic 911's and Touchtronic Astons before I bought my 156 GTA new in 2005, it was a given that I'd want a Selespeed since I love this type of gearbox. Is there any reason to believe, do you think, that Selespeed 156 GTA' s might be limited to very few in number ? Knowing Alfa drivers to generally be " sporty " in their driving preferences, and therefore probably preferring a stick and pedals, and that given that the Selespeed box had a few problems at the time, I wouldn't be surprised if mine was the only one.
Incidentally, the Selespeed box in my Alfa is almost as good as my 2005 DB9. There is a slight hiccup in changes going up the range at high speed when in auto mode, and none in the "manual " mode when using the column paddles, whereas the Astons changes are as slick as snot on a wet dogs back.

Thanks, amigo, but it is the above website that is maintaining the GTA register that I referred to in the first place.
It probably will, though, be another place to ask GTA related questions, of course. Cheers.

I think there were very few Selespeed GTA's in the UK, I believe only just into double figures.
Given the rarity of GTAs in the first place, I am sure that s wil be rarer than rocking horse dung. Mind you, a guy with a manual GTA lived in the same village as me, although he moved to Manchester within two weeks of my discovering him
