Evening all. Am picking up my first Jag tonight, a 1986 Jaguar Series 3 4.2 Sovereign. Nice old thing, it was subjected to a restoration over the course of 10 years by a chap who passed away shortly after getting it on the roadfrown

Would like to hear your recommendations for owners clubs/forums, especially those with technical knowledge as I'm sure I'll be getting my hands dirty. Pics t follow, assuming I make it home...

I agree about the Jag Enthusiasts Club - a must for anyone with any Jag.
I have had a couple of 4.2 Sovereigns and 2 Series 3 V12's - fabulous cars, but obviously getting old now - so iron worm can be a problem. The 4.2's are great - as long as they have had good water and oil all of their lives. For a suspension system that was designed 40 plus years back, they are supremely comfortable - lots of stuff still available too. Areas around bonnet hinges can be weak if the hinge has been allowed to get stiff and then the usual lower front wings/rear wheel arches/ sills and floorpans. You don't see that many series 3's around now and that one of yours is the last year of the 4.2's - but the V12's soldiered on until about 92 - so some later parts are available.

Hope to see some pics

Sweet. I nearly bought one of these a good few years back. Wish I had done now......
