Classic Marques - Wiscombe Weekend
Discussion
Good morning all,
Classic Marques Rounds 6&7 are at Wiscombe Park this weekend (18th/19th May). As usual, Wiscombe has attracted an eclectic mix of British sports cars eligible to compete in the Classic Marques handicap series. See classic sports car entry list here: http://media.wix.com/ugd//fd72d2_9d9a2afacf71d0301...
For anyone who has not been to Wiscombe before, this exciting hillclimb weekend is set in the grounds of Wiscombe Park and offers excellent viewing of the hill and free access to the cars in the paddock area. There is also food, local ice cream, licensed bar (spectators only!)
Wiscombe Park is located near Honiton in Devon - directions here: http://www.wiscombepark.co.uk/location/location.ht...
Torbay Motor Club is one of the weekend's organising clubs and their website is here: http://www.torbay-mc.co.uk/wiscombe.html
Please come along and support.
Cheers

Another very close weekend for Classic Marques - See full and detailed results and leaderboard here~

Some serious attrition amongst the TVRs though - Paul Moakes (V8S) and Steve Mogg (Griff 500) took a detour after Bunny's Leap and crashed into various arboreal features. Actually, they were lucky not to find themselves at the foot of Dead Car Gulley - a place from where there is no known return. Mogg returned to the fray with a car covered in so much gaffer tape it looked like a test mule.
Shortly afterwards, Geoff Stallard broke a diff in the Vixen but that was just the start of a weekend full of trials and tribulations for him - more on that story later. Alan Davies (Chimp 500) broke an engine mount and retired behind a cloud of steam - I can report though, that after much cutting and sticking he arrived home safely though.
I guess the good news was that Phil Jones found 3rd in the Marcos (it was only once and it was late on Sunday afternoon) but nonetheless it did prove that it is in there somewhere.
Apart from the crashes and general misfortune, the weekend ran like clockwork and full marks to the members of both clubs for organising such great events at this devilish tricky hill.
Cheers
